Nanofactory Enterprise Associate
About the Job
University of Leeds
School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering (SPEME) and School of Physics and Astronomy (SPA)

Nanofactory Enterprise Associate – full-time, fixed term for one year
Pioneering Emerging Technologies and Functional Polymers and Complex Fluids, including applications in Nanomedicine, Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care

Working on the project: Nanofactory: Utilising synergies in nano-manufacturing to accelerate innovation (MNT2)

The MNT2 project is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (2007-2013) in Yorkshire and the Humber. Nanofactory is a part-ERDF funded partnership between 6 universities in the Yorkshire region focused on the development of new collaborations with external organisations to create new funding and innovative outcomes.

You will be responsible for delivering some of the activities in this project, namely in helping coordinate collaborative funding applications among the partner universities, as well as establishing workshops to generate innovative ideas for future research projects in areas of technology that will have large societal impact.

You will be embedded in the Polymers and Complex Fluids (PCF) Group in the School of Physics and Astronomy and in the ParticlesCIC in the Institute of Particles Science and Engineering at the University of Leeds. You will collaborate across the University of Leeds, with the partner universities and with other partners such as members of the UK Polymer IRC, with whom the PCF group collaborates closely.

The PCF group has significant interests and skills in the dynamics of polymers and complex fluids, and surfactants; biophysics and biopolymers; polymer nanocomposite materials; polymer gel electrolytes and batteries; and participates in three active European Networks in various aspects of soft matter.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop new projects in innovative areas of technology and to assist in a cultural change at the University of Leeds in the way that new research projects are initiated and funded.
